  • Pre Care

You must shave the hair on the body part to be treated.

Do not wax, pluck or use depilatories during your series of laser hair reduction

Avoid prolonged sun exposure for 1 to 2 weeks prior to treatment and use SPF 30 daily to ensure coverage against UVB and UVA rays.

Do not use self-tanning products for 1 to 2 weeks prior to and/or post treatment.

Discontinue use of Tretinoin type products (Renova, Tretinoin, Retin A, Retin A Micro, Tri-Luma, Solage, etc.) or Hydroquinone at least 2 or 3 days prior to treatment.

Many medications that are sun sensitive will also make you more sensitive to the laser. Please disclose any medications that you may be taking.

If you have a history of cold sores, begin prophylactic treatment with Valtrex or similar no later than the day prior to your laser hair treatment.

Notify the office if you develop a cold sore, acne, open lesions in the area being treated, or experience any type of illness prior to your treatment.

Longevity of Botox and fillers done any time within 6 months prior to face treatment may be affected. Botox done within 2 weeks prior to treatment is not recommended.

REMEMBER - Laser hair reduction is never 100%. Industry standard is 75 to 90% reduction in the hairs. Not all hairs will be destroyed. Hormones can cause hair to grow back.

    Post Care

You may experience small red bumps around the hair follicle. This is normal and expected. Do not pick, rub or scratch these until they have cleared. Your skin overall may be sensitive for several days following your laser hair removal treatment.

If your skin scabs or crusts, or you experience a burn, do not pick, rub or scratch these areas. Doing so can result in infection, permanent pigment changes in your skin or even scarring. Gently cleanse the area and apply hydrocortisone cream several times a day for one week. If the area is open, also apply a layer of antibiotic ointment over the hydrocortisone cream. Please contact us immediately if you experience any burns.

Do not sunbathe or use a tanning bed for at least 2 weeks following your treatment. If you need to be out in the sun, wear an SPF 30 minimum.

Avoid swimming, hot tubs and saunas for several days following your treatment.

It can take several weeks for the hair in the treated area to "fall out" (push up and out of the follicle). This time frame is normal. Exfoliation with a scrub or woven gauze 3 days post treatment can help with hairs that may be stuck in the follicle.

Do not expect your hair to "not grow back" after a single session. Laser hair removal is a process.

Subsequent treatment sessions should be 4 to 6 weeks if done on the face and 6 to 12 weeks if done on the body.

Although rare, infection in the treated area is possible. Signs of infection may include redness and tenderness in the infected area and fever. Should you develop an infection, antibiotics may be necessary. Please contact us should you have any concerns.

  • Pre Care

Do not use self-tanning products for 1 to 2 weeks prior to and/or post treatment.

Discontinue use of Tretinoin type products (Renova, Tretinoin, Retin A, Retin A Micro, Tri-Luma, Solage, etc.) or Hydroquinone at least 2 or 3 days prior to treatment.

Longevity of Botox and fillers done any time within 6 months prior to face treatment may be affected. Botox done within 2 weeks prior to treatment is not recommended.

    Post Care

Immediately following treatment, the area may appear flushed and warm, but there should be no bruising. The redness should fade over the course of a few hours and should not be enough to interfere with daily activities.

To relieve any discomfort, use a chiller and/or apply aloe vera gel to the treated areas immediately after treatment. Use cold packs post treatment on all veins.

Apply antibiotic ointment of physician's choice to the area to prevent drying or crusting and to soothe the skin. If a crust develops, allow it to fall off naturally.

Avoid hot baths or whirlpools for one week following treatment.

If blistering or crusting occur, do not shave for 1 to 3 days.

Avoid sun exposure, tanning beds, sunless tanning lotions, and tanning creams before, during, and after treatment. A broad-spectrum sun block (UVA/UVB) and SPF 30 or greater should be applied to the treatment area before any sun exposure.

Avoid exercises that can cause vasodilatation for one week post treatment. Walking is encouraged.
If makeup is allowed, it must be applied and removed delicately. Excess rubbing can open the area and increase the chance of scarring.

Discomfort, such as swelling or redness (lasting from a few hours to a couple of days), can be relieved with acetaminophen or ice packs.

Contact physician if there is any sign of blistering or infection (redness, tenderness, or pus).

Longevity of Botox and fillers done any time within 6 months prior to face treatment may be affected. Botox done within 2 weeks prior to treatment is not recommended.

    Post Treatment Care

Following treatment, apply an aloe-based gel or equivalent to sooth and moisturize the skin.

Avoid sun exposure throughout the course of treatment and use a broad-spectrum (UVA/UVB)

sun block SPF 30 or greater when treatment area is exposed to the sun.

Treated lesions will likely crust, then slough over the course of several days or weeks. Patients should not scratch or pick at crusts.

  • Post- Care

    1. You may experience a burning sensation 1-2 hours immediately after the treatment. Cooling with an ice pack can provide relief to the treated area. Make sure to enclose the ice pack in a sterile covering.

    2. Wash with gentle cleanser in a circular motion. Dry the treated area gently, using a patting motion, do not rub the area.

    3. You might experience pinpoint bleeding. If this occurs, gently pat the area using a clean gauze pad to stop the bleeding.

    4. It is important to keep the skin moisturized and hydrated after treatment. Apply an ointment or barrier cream to the treated area several times a day for the next 3-5 days. This will promote healing as well as reduce the risk of infection.

    5. When the skin returns to intact state, you may wash, apply mineral makeup, shave, or take a shower regularly.

    6. The newly generated skin is sensitive and MUST be protected from both sunlight and heat. Over the next month, use the moisturizer and sunblock with an SPF of 30+ PA++. Use an umbrella, cap, or any available protections against outdoor sunlight.

    7. Avoid using alcohol-containing or harsh cosmetics for at least two weeks after the treatment.

    8. Avoid vigorous activity for the first week post treatment or until initial healing has occurred. Increased irritation may result from any activity that increases blood flow or body temperature (i.e. alcohol consumption, exercise, sauna).
